STARTS LAB WORKSHOP: Visual Programming with TouchDesigner
23.2.2026 12:00
STARTS LAB Oulu, room 7A209, Oamk Linnanmaa campus
How can sound or movement control real-time visuals? What are the benefits of procedural graphics compared to traditional keyframe animation?
TouchDesigner is a visual programming environment that enables the creation and control of real-time and interactive media. The software is particularly well suited for data visualization, performing arts, installations, and event productions.
In this two-day workshop, participants will be introduced to the basics of TouchDesigner, explore creative use cases from Oamk and around the world, and collaboratively build demo projects for sound‑ and motion‑reactive media. No prior experience with the software is required.
The workshop will take place on 23–24 February 2026 from 12:00 to 16:00 at the STARTS LAB hybrid studio at Oulu University of Applied Sciences. Participation is free of charge, but places are limited. The workshop will be mentored by project specialist Joonas Leinonen (Oamk).
The workshop is organized as part of the STARTS LAB Oulu project’s workshop series. STARTS LAB Oulu combines science, technology and the arts in our state‑of‑the‑art hybrid studio, which offers opportunities to develop and test immersive content, virtual sets, and digital twins. The studio features the latest AR and VR solutions, tools for virtual film production, and innovations in digital storytelling.
