Oceanaia
by Christelle Mas &Olli Uikkanen

Oceanaia is an interactive aquatic ecosystem simulation set on a distant oceanic planet in the year 7000. Four ecosystems, shaped by different human ecological philosophies, host genetically modified aquatic species. The fifth ecosystem, the Jungle, is the one presented in the game, serving as the demo phase.

Blending real Baltic Sea data with speculative art, Oceanaia combines 3D microscope imagery and artistic storytelling to reflect on sustainability, environmental ethics, and human–nature–technology coexistence. The first exhibition took place this summer at Kuutio, the interactive space of Oodi Central Library in Helsinki, a collaboration that continues.

Cosmogony
by Cie Gilles Jobin

“Cosmogony” is a live digital performance in real time by the Swiss contemporary dance company, Cie Gilles Jobin, featuring 3 dancers being motion captured live at the #Studios44MocapLab in Geneva and screened in real time remotely. The movements of the dancers are captured in Geneva, sliced up into digital ‘bits’ and sent instantaneously through the cyberspace to appear as avatars, on screen and in real time for a live audience, thousands of miles away from the company’s studio.

Kohtaaminen

Dance & Choreography
Hanna Still & Matti Miilumäki

Direction & Script
Tapani Launonen, Klaffi Tuotannot Oy

The media artwork Kohtaaminen from the Nordic Art Hotel Lasaretti’s art collection, leads viewers through an emotionally moving meeting shown across seven large screens in the Aurora Hall. In this story, the viewer is quite literally at the center. Following the story on seven screens is both a challenge and an opportunity—to choose where to direct one’s gaze and, consequently, what to see and experience. At the same time, the viewer is invited to realize the uniqueness of encounters in their own life as well: where you look always influences what you will experience.

On the screens, Kohtaaminen unfolds in the same dramatic sequence each time, yet changes with every viewing depending on the viewer’s position and the direction of their gaze. A brief moment can change the entire story…

Kohtaaminen will be screened on Thu 20.11. at 9:00.
