STARTS LAB WORKSHOP: Color and Light in Virtual Production
25.11.2025 10:00
STARTS LAB Oulu, room 7A209, Oamkin Linnanmaan kampus
How consistently can modern LED studio lights reproduce the colors of a digital environment?
In this three-day workshop, participants will explore the Image-Based Lighting method used in virtual productions and examine how different color management workflows affect the color rendering capabilities of LED lighting fixtures through measurements and visual observations. The workshop culminates in the creation of a convincing in-camera VFX image using the Image-Based Lighting technique, applying the insights gained during the sessions.
The workshop days will be held from November 25 to 27, 2025. You may register for all of the workshop days, or choose the ones that suit you best. Schedules and content can be found under the Workshop Schedule tab.
The workshop is held at the STARTS LAB hybrid studio at Oulu University of Applied Sciences. Instructors include DMX Specialist Dan Walters (Creamsource), Virtual Production Specialist Tommi Rosnell (Mediatrade Oy), and VFX Supervisor Petteri Stavén (Oamk).
